Abstract:
The article examines the participation of Z.N. Gippius, V.Ya. Briusov and S.A. Sokolov in the magazines Golden fleece (1905–1909), Balance (1904–1909) and Pass (1906–1907). The dialogues on the pages of the magazines reveal the attitude of three representatives of the modernist movement, who had different levels of talent, to the concepts of “culture” and “culturality”. Particular attention is paid to the critical articles from “Pass” magazine, which were studied less than other publications. The roles of three literary figures in the historical and cultural process in Russia in 1906–1908 are evaluated.
