Abstract:
The article is devoted to the life, literary and scientific heritage of the outstanding representative of the Abkhaz diaspora in Turkey, Omar Beyguaa. He wrote in the Abkhazian and Turkish languages. He used the Abkhazian alphabet, created by himself at the beginning on the basis of Arabic and then Latin graphics. The paper examines the features of the poetics of O. Beiguaa’s poetic works, their folklore origins. His views on the history and ethnography of the Abkhazians, the fate of a part of the people who ended up in Turkey and other countries in the second half of the 19th century, the position of their native language and national culture are presented. The poet and scientist believed that outside the homeland, in a foreign environment, the people cannot preserve their national identity.
