Abstract:
The article analyzes the experience of preparing the commentary for Vladimir Vysotsky’s Collected Works in 11 volumes. It outlines the history of the edition and the main characteristics of previous comments. It examines the concrete structure of the commentary, its recipients, the nature and amount of information offered by the commentary, the relationship between commentary and interpretation, the place of commentary in identifying the author’s intention; it also considers commentary as a tool for the analysis of poetics in general, and of the imagery of the present work in particular. The information and interpretation potential of visual commentary, its tasks and purpose, its place in the system of traditional forms of commentary are discussed separately.
