Abstract: The subject of the article is the intertextual dialogue between A. Platonov and V. Zazubrin, as well as their creative relationship with M. Gorky. The author traces the elements of intertextuality in Platonov’s novel “Chevengur” and Zazubrin’s essay “By Roads Not Travelled,” along with his novels “Two Worlds,” “Mountains” and the play “Undermining.” The article emphasizes the difference between the artistic styles of the two authors and their worldviews. The basis of the study of the creative relationship between Platonov and Gorky was Platonov’s late articles “The First Date with A.M. Gorky” and “Pushkin and Gorky,” as well as his early lyrical and philosophical prose poems. As the analysis has shown, they echo Gorky’s early poem “Man” in its motif of thought. Platonov’s articles dedicated to Gorky demonstrate the ambiguous perception of the Soviet classic’s personality underlying their subtext. The correspondence between Zazubrin and Gorky, as well as Zazubrin’s play “Undermining” and his articles dedicated to Gorky, reveal their creative relationship.
