Abstract: This publication presents a dynamic transcription of the story by A. Platonov published under the title “Defense of the Semidvorye” (1943) (its other titles are “The Little Commander” and “There is no Death”). The introductory article gives the necessary explanations regarding the dating of the work and the peculiarities of its perception in the criticism of the 1940s.
