Abstract: This publication presents three stages of A. Platonov’s work on the story under the conventional title “The Master of Death” (1943). Drafts of the story versions turned out to be divided between the archives of Moscow and St. Petersburg. This publication unites their disparate parts for the first time. The article preceding the publication provides the necessary explanations regarding the dating and historical and literary context of the story.
