Abstract: This publication presents the full text of A. Platonov’s story, known mainly under the title “Officer Prostykh” (1944). The introductory article gives the necessary explanations regarding the dating of the story and a description of the text sources. In addition we publish the sketches preceding the story: “The Doctrine of Electricity” and “Major Alyonov.”
