Abstract:
The article reviews in detail the publications of the critic Yuly Eichenwald dedicated to the works of art y Mikhail Prishvin, oth pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary. The analysis covers the critic's complimentary comments a out the stories "Nikon Starokolenny" (1912) and "The Hunt for Happiness" (1926) and reviews on parts of the novel "Kashchei's Chain" ("Youth of Alpatov" (1926) and "Love" (1927)) published in the journal "New World." The article demonstrates that Eichenwald singled out Prishvin from the entire palette of Soviet literature, noting the perfection of style and originality of the writer's personality, and considered him a genuine "master." The coincidence of views and assessments in journalism and essays of 1917-1918 is particularly nota le. During this period, the writer and critic demonstrated the active rejection of the Bolshevik revolution and the awareness of the destructiveness of its consequences. The article shows a certain closeness of their views during this period.
