Abstract:
The article introduces the correspondence between V.D. Prishvina and representatives of the Russian literary emigration V.N. Muromtseva-Bunina and L.F. Zurov into scientific circulation. The letters present the correspondents' opinions concerning the work and personality of Mikhail Prishvin and give assessments of his works. They also comment on the new editions of Prishvin's books that they received from Russia. At the same time, these letters are of interest to characterize the participants of the correspondence themselves, who are prominent figures in the literary process of the mid-20th century. In many letters, Prishvina talks about her work on the compilation and commentary of her husband's publications. The enthusiastic responses of Zurov, who called Prishvin "a great lover of truth," impress Valeria Prishvina, who, in turn, defines her husband's gift as "visionary" and draws his attention to those lines of Prishvin where he speaks of his exceptional mission as "keeper of fire." The letters also reflected the caring of Prishvina on the literary critic N.S. Rodionov, who helped her in analyzing the archives. The presented history of written communication of three notable figures of Russian literary life complements the general picture of the relationships between abroad and the metropolis in the early 1960s.
