Abstract:
The article is devoted to artistic echoes in the works of A.I. Ertel and the early prose of Ivan Bunin. The features that the future Nobel laureate paid attention to in his work have been identified. Addressing themes close to narodniks writers, Ivan Bunin, difference from the works of A.I. Ertel, which touched upon general adversity and severity, emphasized the theme of personal tragedy, and focused attention on the experiences and difficulties of a particular hero. In addition, in the stories of both writers there are also plot parallels, common features in the depiction of steppes, fields and mounds, which can act as places of solitude, peace, relaxation, reflection, reflect the inner world of the hero, and inspire philosophical reflection. There is an ironic attitude of A.I. Ertel and Ivan Bunin to subservience and servility. When analyzing the life of small-scale nobles, with whom both writers were well acquainted, attention is paid to depicting the same pastime, sometimes very monotonous.
