Abstract:
The article is devoted to satirical poetry in the magazine “Krokodil” during the Great Patriotic War. The number of poetic works published in the magazine is calculated. The main objects of criticism, frequent images, and leading motifs are identified. By ridiculing the Nazis and Germany’s allies in the war, their military mistakes, and false propaganda, the authors of satirical works express their confidence in the inevitable victory of the Red Army. Since 1943, due to the changing situation on the front in favor of the Soviet Union, satirical poets have increasingly turned to the country’s internal problems, such as bureaucracy, nepotism, bribery, and more. In 1943, the magazine published a series titled “Not the Heroes of Our Time”, where cartoonists and poets portrayed a specific satirical type. As the war drew to a close, satirists emphasized the doom and agony of the fascist regime.
Keywords: satirical poetry, “Krokodil” magazine, the Great Patriotic War, soviet satire, the satirical image of Germany, motifs and images of military satire.
