Abstract:

At the beginning of the 21st century, the Great Patriotic War continues to be one of the main themes of the Belarussian literature. Reflecting the events of the war, the contemporary prose relies on both traditional artistic values, such as courage and heroism, and on up-to-date issues the of moral and spiritual development, destruction of personality and helplessness of a man in the face of the universal evil. Contemporary Belarussian war prose actively responds to the challenges of the time, giving literature its new humanistic content and at the same time preserving the best aesthetic ideals of the past. In its ideological and thematic diversity, the fiction of such writers as N. Cherginets, A. Savitsky, V. Gnilomedov, A. Sulyanov and others not only explores the nature of crime, but also stands guard over historical truth, noting the invincible spirit of the Soviet people and warning humanity about the dangers of plunging into the abyss of new world violence.
