Abstract:
The article is devoted to the commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences on the assessment of damage to the “Yasnaya Polyana” Museum Estate, which worked at the end of December 1941. The commission’s activities are reconstructed on the basis of both published and archival documents from the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is indicated that the work of the commission pursued two tasks: a real assessment of the damage and a demonstration of the occupiers’ atrocities to the world community. Special attention is paid to the history of the commission’s acts and their informational function. The propagandistic anti-fascist effect of the commission’s work is demonstrated. A comparison of the acts deposited in the archive and their publication in the collection оf articles “Yasnaya Polyana” allows us to speak about their authenticity.
