Abstract:

The article is based on the vision of the artistic world of A. Platonov as a harmonious system reflecting the author’s ideas about the structure of the real world, its fate and the purpose of existence. Expanding the teachings of N. Fedorov, Platonov believed that the goal of humanity is to achieve universal kinship not only among people in all their generations, but also among the world in all its manifestations. At the junctions between the parts of the ontological triad “Man” — “Humanity” — “Nature/Cosmos” there arise stable images and concepts that predetermine the motive structure of Platonov’s writings. The images-concepts “labor” and “technology” connect humanity and nature, with labor as a way of man’s relationship to nature, and technology as a means of correcting the world, which remains in an untrue, untransformed state. The material for analysis was Platonov’s journalistic articles from different years, his short stories from the 1920s, “The Foundation Pit” and “The Juvenile Sea,” and the novel “Chevengur.” The philosophical issues of labor and technology form the basis of Platonov’s artistic world throughout his entire career.

  • Keywords: A. Platonov, the ideal of universal kinship, images-concepts, technology, labor.
