Abstract:
The article examines how the perception of M.A. Sholokhov’s personality and literary works was changing during that acute sociopolitical and ideological crisis which was unfolding in the Soviet Union and then in Russia from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. In particular, a new understanding of the confrontation — or the sharp controversy — between Sholokhov scholars and the so-called “Anti-Sholokhov scholars” is provided in the present work. Along with statistical method, the author uses the discoveries made by P. Bourdieu, Arnold Toynbee, and by other culturologists.
