Abstract:

The paper selectively analyzes the history of cultural and literary interactions between Russia and India (the ones that took place especially in the XX century, before and after the independence of India), namely: the relevance of Sholokhov’s literary works in India and his influence on the Indian writer Phanishwarnath Renu. Scrutinizing these issues, the article tries to establish «genetic» contacts between the two writers of different cultural types.

  • Keywords: cultural and literary interactions, Sholokhov in India, influence, “genetic” contacts.
