Abstract:

The article analyzes two last and, from the artistic point of view, most significant plays of Heiner Müller based on the deep rethinking of the novels Cement by F. Gladkov and Volokolamsk Highway by A. Beck. Both plays deal with moral issues raised by the Socialist Revolution and with the formation of the new type of social relations. Those plays were written by H. Muller during the very first years of “perestroika” in the USSR, for which he had great expectations.

  • Keywords: Heiner Müller, Soviet literary traditions, rethinking of traditions, Cement by F. Gladkov, Volokolamsk Highway by A. Beck.
