Abstract:
In the era of general globalization, it becomes very urgent to solve such an important scientific and humanitarian problem as a comprehensive analysis of modern linguistic life in the post-Soviet multi-ethnic space and forecasting the development of events in this area. The aim of the article is to consider modern ethno-linguistic processes in the Republic of Dagestan, which are taking shape in the circumstances of the weakening of the positions of national languages. National languages are rarely used in communication at the family level. Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the language situation are determined as a starting point. The necessary conditions for the survival of national languages with different social status are identified and the prospects for their coexistence with the languages of more numerous peoples are predicted. The problems associated with the language policy are investigated, the reasons for the process of the disappearance of minority languages are analyzed, and a set of measures is proposed for the preservation and development of the Dagestan languages. The author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to adopt a special state program for the preservation, development and functioning of the languages of Dagestan.
