Abstract:
Central Asia is the region where the Belt and Road Initiative was first proposed and is of strategic importance to China. The realization of Chinese interests in the region is impossible without effective consultations and mutual understanding. The position of the Chinese language in Central Asia is not strong due to a number of cultural and historical reasons, and it is particularly relevant to study and borrow from global experience in the promotion and popularisation of international languages in the Region. This paper focuses on assessing the status of world languages in Central Asia, comparing the concepts and tools of their promotion, and analysing the challenges of Chinese language promotion in the region.
Keywords: Central Asia, promotion, world languages, Belt and Road Initiative, challenge.
