Abstract:
In the modern world, where traditional and new security challenges are intertwined, the problem of language security is also becoming relevant. The problem of language and national security that Russia faces prompts academic circles to think about the role of language as a social resource and what functions it performs. This paper uses the Nvivo12 software to conduct a content analysis of texts related to Russian language policy in a security context for the period 2002-2020, and thus to study the issue of linguistic securitization in Russia. The study showed that securitization is a politicized process, the essence of which is that the government has given language a social function that affects national security. Language security in Russia consists of two levels. The first is the process of building a discourse on language security, which elevates the issue of language security to the rank of a national language security issue and places it in the context of political and cultural security. The second is the process of responding to language security problems, that is, the process during which the subjects of language security adopt a language policy aimed at eliminating threats to language security.
