Abstract:
The issues of studying the interaction of language and culture are among the priority tasks of modern linguistics, which have important theoretical and practical significance. The periphery of the region’s onomastic space is made up of ergonymic units that reflect social, economic and regional specifics. The article deals with linguoculturological aspects in the study of ergonyms. The object of this study is one of the varieties of ergonymic units – the names of hotel and tourist facilities in the Brest region. In the course of the analysis of 246 names, cultural codes that objectify culturally marked information were identified and described. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that the study of ergonyms in a culturological way contributes to the identification of the worldview and cultural and value orientations of the inhabitants of the region. Ergonymic units as one of the fragments of the language space of the region serve as an important reference point in the historical and cultural heritage of the region and the country.
