Abstract:
The totality of the pre-modern elements of Gogol’s poetics, defined in the article by the metaphorical concept of «Gogol», is viewed as the Gogolian intertext in Ukrainian modernism of the 1920s, the era of passionate rise of the national cultural revival. The analysis of Gogolian intertextual elements — structurally and semantically significant components of poetics in works by Mykola Khvyliovyi, V. Domontovych, Mykola Kulish — is carried out on the empirical, hermeneutical and associative levels. Thus, the paper reveals inspirational potential of Gogol’s intertext and its role of a creative factor in modernizing the artistic means of Ukrainian literature, strengthening its positions in the European literary community, and generally in the worldwide spiritual and cultural space.
