Abstract: The article traces the history of three versions of the story “Aphrodite” and its edition history using archival material. The analysis of the autograph and the new materials introduced into scientific circulation allows for describing the history of writing each of the three editions of the story and identifying white spots in the text history and its publications. The article inscribes the history of the failed lifetime publications of the story in biographical and historical-literary contexts.
