Abstract: The study is devoted to one of the permanent subjects of Platonov’s work, connected with the history of fire-resistant construction in the writer’s native province. This fact of the biography of the Voronezh period of Platonov’s life, in those years a provincial meliorator, was omitted in our chronicles and comments. Previously unknown materials presented in the publication from the collections of the State Archive of the Voronezh Region (GAVO) reveal the history of the formation of fire-resistant construction in the province; gubmeliorator Platonov had to deal with these issues in 1925. It is another significant block of A. Platonov’s business correspondence of 1925, which not only provides real material for commenting on the biographies of Platonov’s favorite characters (from the “The Etheric Tract” to “Aphrodite”), but also tells about another page in the life of the future classic, to which he returned more than once in his memory and creativity.
