Abstract:

The article discusses the history of the political posters “ROSTA Windows”, on which Mayakovsky worked as a text author and artist during the Civil War (1919–1922), and their importance for the creation of “TASS Windows” posters during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). A characteristic feature of Mayakovsky’s posters was agitational pathos, informationality, close interconnection of verbal and visual images, polyframe composition, and stencil method of reproduction. The continuity of the stylistic forms of these posters and the traditions of active propaganda and satirical influence are shown.
