Abstract:
The article examines the features of anti-war German prose (1941– 1949), created by anti-fascist writers who lived in exile in the USSR and returned to the Soviet occupation zone in 1945. The main attention is paid to the works of the direct participants in the Great Patriotic War (W. Bredel, F. Wolf, T. Plivier, etc.), who covered the tragic events on the fronts, in the occupied territory, and painted portraits of Wehrmacht soldiers based on their oral and written testimonies. The author traces the process of anti-war prose formation from documentary and artistic genres to large novel forms. The importance of anti-war prose for the formation of GDR literature is shown.
