Abstract:
In the publication, a multi-act play by A. Platonov, restored on the basis of materials from two collections of the writer from the Moscow (OR IWL RAS) and St. Petersburg (RO IRLI RAS) archives, is introduced into academic circulation for the first time. The play is not titled, not dated, not finished, and contains copious unfinished edits. The introductory article to the publication substantiates the dating of the play, indicates the close inclusion of the work in the context of the autumn of 1939, and traces some of the realities of 1939 reflected in the work. The play contains references to the investigative case of Platonov’s arrested son, conveys his mood in the autumn of 1939. Platonov’s reaction to V. Kozin’s stories about youth was also reflected in the play. These allusions unfolded in the play into generalized images, the writer’s reflections on the fate of teenagers in the modern world.
