Abstract:
Possible influence of Notes from Underground by Dostoevsky on Kafka’s short story Der Bau is analyzed in the article. The author deals not only with Notes from Underground, but also with Kafka’s diaries, in which Dostoevsky is mentioned. The role of animalistic images, the specificity of forms of speech are investigated by the author of the article. The author comes to conclusion about the difference of forms of speech in both works and different meaning of the motif of “underground” in Kafka and Dostoevsky.
