Abstract:
The article is dedicated to very important for the story “Foma Gordeev” concept “delo”. The writer saw in those who have grown rich merchants not just greedy and cunning dealers, but skillful, thoughtful and enthusiastic employees. In “Foma Gordeev” Gorky’s reflections on the ways of development of Russian merchants and its place in the formation of capitalism in Russia are reflected. M. Gorky was worried about the fate of the children of rich businessmen, who, observing the life, gradually began to understand its unfair arrangement. Foma Gordeev is intensely searching for the meaning of life and his place in it, Foma’s protest ends by his formidable but ineffectual denunciation of his class.
