Abstract:
The article for the first time proposed an overview of the Esenin’s notes in the text on the books of his library, including not only the marked quote, but also its type and the principle of placement in the publication. For the study two editions belonging to the poet were taken — the first volume of the complete works of A.A. Fet and two surviving volumes of L.N. Tolstoy’s “A Calendar of Wisdom” (“Krug chteniya”) — in which the selections in the text were the most diverse. This allows us to talk about the creative interrelations of the poet and the Russian classics, makes it possible to assess how the poet studied and analyzed the works of famous writers.
