Abstract:
This issue of the “Literary Heritage Library” presents translations prepared for volume VIII of the Complete Works by William Shakespeare, published by the Academia publishing house since 1936. In December 1937, the publishing house was liquidated; the volume of Shakespeare’s poetry, published in 1949 by Goslitizdat, contained other translations. The translation of “Sonnets” by M.A. Kuzmin, considered lost, was discovered in the Academia collection at the Russian State Archive of Literature and Arts (RGALI; sonnets 1–103, fair typescript), as well as translations by V.S. Davidenkova- Golubeva, Yu.P. Anisimov and E.I. Sadovsky. Their publishing history is revealed in the introduction and notes. All texts are published for the first time.
