Abstract:
The book includes studies and publications illustrating the continuity of spiritual traditions laid down in many ways by the Moscow Novodevichy Convent as an ancient Orthodox monastery, which throughout its history has provided examples of interaction between the Church and the State. Russian literature of the 18th–19th centuries, represented in the authors’ studies by sermons, memoirs, diaries and letters, inherited deep understanding of Christian values and national ideals, and perpetuated outstanding evidence of the beneficial union of spiritual and secular principles in the life of Russia.
