Abstract:

The article attempts to summarize the materials collected in the funds of the State Museum Reserve of S.A. Esenin, about theatrical performances on stages of Russian and foreign theaters, dedicated to the image of the poet. The presented archival objects allowed to classify performances according to their representation of Esenin, to identify the most popular types of plays, among which one can mention the monodramas, as well as performances about love or telling about the last days of the poet’s life. The analysis presented also made it possible to highlight texts of plays that were used more often than others. Within the framework of the study, the order of appearance of stage works and work on the images of the Poet was determined from 1922 to the present day. In the general list of performances, those staged in Ryazan and Konstantinovo, which represented the homeland of the poet, are marked. Several performances are considered in more detail due to the considerable volume of published and collected material, among such productions — “My Life, Have I Dreamed of You?” with Sergey Bezrukov and “Confession of the Hooligan” in a production by Andrey Dennikov.
