Abstract:

The creation and development of museums, whose activities are aimed at preserving, studying and popularizing the heritage of famous people, ensures the growth of their fame, attracts attention to the historical and cultural landscapes associated with their biography and creativity. The article characterizes the 100-year period of museum mastering of S.A. Esenin’s heritage. The poet’s museums were opened not only in those localities where he lived and worked (Konstantinovo, Ryazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Orel, Baku, including Mardakian (Mardakyan), which is now part of Baku, of and Tashkent), but also in those that are in no way connected with his biography. Fans of Esenin’s poetry made a lot of efforts to create museums of the poet in Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Vyazma in the Smolensk region, in Voronezh and Murmansk regions, in the city of Salavat in the Republic of Bashkortostan, in Seversk in the Tomsk region, in Togliatti in the Samara region. The process of creating museums was most intensive in the mid-1990s in connection with the wide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the poet’s birth in 1995. A great contribution to the development of Esenin museums was made by the All-Union and then International Esenin Society “Radunitsa”, established on December 21, 1985, which united in its ranks the creators of museums and held conferences to exchange experience and the results of academic research.
