Abstract:

In our article, the ideological layers of the novel (biblical, Fedorov’s philosophy, political, energetic) are related to the final event — Nastya’s death. Following O.A. Meerson, we consider each of the characters in “The Foundation Pit” (1930) as a bearer of certain ideas, refracted in the image of Nastya — the most complex and multi-layered Platonov’s child character of the 1920s – early 1930s. The biblical context of the novel is realized in the plot of construction: “the common proletarian house,” according to H. Gunther, is associated with the image of the Tower of Babel. The political ideological layer is associated, firstly, with the process of building the house, in which one of the metaphors of the anthem “The Internationale” is made literal, and secondly, with the image of Nastya, who, according to A. Kiselev and N. Duzhina, is associated with the new Soviet Russia. The energetic context of the story is connected first of all with the influence of Steiner’s scientific and esoteric ideas on A.P. Platonov, analyzed by K.A. Barsht (if we follow this concept, then Nastya is the first victim of the energetic apocalypse). The influence of N.F. Fedorov’s philosophy on the poetics of the story “The Foundation Pit” is realized in the finale of the story — the burial of Nastya, who asks shortly before her death to bring her mother’s bones. Accordingly, in this article we come to the conclusion that all the ideological layers of the work that we are considering are closed on the image of Nastya.
