Abstract:
The study of the textology of Ivan Bunin’s prose is just beginning. A number of scientific papers have already been published in this important and vital area of research. This paper examines the history of the text of the story “Dreams” by Ivan Bunin. All nine lifetime publications of this work have been collected, studied, and consistently verified. Identified discrepancies are selectively presented (abbreviations, corrections, and additions). As a result of a textual work, three editions of the story “Dreams” were identified: pre-revolutionary edition, popular and late publication. The problem of choosing the main text of this story in the future academic Complete works of the writer is analyzed. A solution to this problem is proposed based on the general principle of choosing the main text in Bunin’s prose that has already been developed.
