Abstract:
The article briefly tells the story of the formation of the idea of the identity of the character and the author of Notes from Underground in the works of Lev Shestov. The falsity of this idea, which over time acquired the features of a kind of myth about Dostoevsky, is shown. The history of criticism and exposure of this myth in the philosophical journalism of the Russian Abroad, as well as in Soviet literary criticism, is described in detail. The persistence of this myth in modern humanities and culture is demonstrated.
