Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the poetics of the experimental work of one of the leaders of Russian imaginism V.G. Shershenevich “The Adventures of the Electric Harlequin”. In the course of the study it is established, that the motif of the animated doll plays a plot-forming role. This motif is also associated with the motif of duality, which is characteristic of Shershenevich’s dramaturgy of 1916–1922. This fact suggests the presence of the Hoffmann tradition in the work of the imaginist. It is proved, that, on the one hand, the motif of the animated doll is connected with the content features of the work and allows the author to raise current social problems. On the other hand, this motif is connected with the author’s experiments with form and visual perception of the text, since it is stated with the help of a graphic underline effect.
