Abstract:
The article is devoted to one of the most important parts of the Personal Library of M. Gorky. The book collection, kept in the memorial house of the writer on Malaya Nikitskaya (a branch of the Museum of A.M. Gorky, IWL RAS), is a valuable source of knowledge about the life and work of the writer, the origins of his philosophical and aesthetic views. The section of the book storage “History of Philosophy” contains volumes of representatives of various philosophical schools reflecting the history of the development of philosophical thought from antiquity to the 20th century. Gorky studied the works of German рhilosophers with particular attention. The writings of A. Schopenhauer, L. Feuerbach, R. Richter, F. Nietzsche and others preserved evidence of an interested dialogue: Gorky argued, admired, disagreed. Numerous Gorky’s marks remained on the pages of these books: underlines, question marks and exclamations, ticks, page numbers, etc.
