Information about the author:

Nina M. Solobay, archivist historian, free explorer, Moscow, Russia.

Abstract:

The article describes in detail the Ryazan periodicals (“Ryazanskiye Gubernskiye Vedomosti,” “Ryazanskiye Yeparkhial’nyye Vedomosti,” “Ryazanskaya zhizn,” “Ryazanskiy vestnik”). These newspapers were supposedly included in the reading circle of S.A. Esenin during his studies at the Spas-Klepiki second-grade teacher’s school and in subsequent years. A frontal review of these publications allowed the auther to establish that they published both literary texts (prose and poetry) and reviews of current literature. From these publications Esenin could learn about the work of the Surikov literary and musical circle and get acquainted with the work of its members. Since the mid-1910s Esenin’s had also appeared in the Ryazan periodicals — as the author of the capital’s publications. The most number of publications about the poet was caused by his tragic death and subsequent projects to memorialize Esenin’s memorable places.
