Abstract:
The article examines the historical sources associated with the image of the tsarevna-ruler Sophia Alekseevna, and their reflection in the fiction of the 1910s, in particular, in the novels On the Height and on the Share by E.P. Karnovich, and The Guardian, At the Sunset of Love, Throne and Love by A.I. Krasnitsky. Fiction novels of the early 20th century became the sources of the image of Princess Sophia in A.N. Tolstoy’s novel Peter the Great, along with the memories of foreigners, historical writings (S.M. Solovyov, N.G. Ustryalov), the 18th century engraved portraits and picturesque images created at the turn of the 19−20th centuries.
