Abstract:

The article deals with the peculiarities of the portrait and character of A.M Gorky as a person, a representative of the epoch in the work of V.F. Khodasevich. In the creative legacy of Khodasevich, the Gorky’s personality arises in connection with periods of communication between writers: non-personal acquaintance; collaboration in “World Literature”; friendship and work on “Beseda” in the emigration; ideological misunderstanding and “parting”; as well as the return of Gorky to the USSR (1920– 1930s). The backdrop of the memories are different spaces: Russia, Germany, Italy. This article revealed the ambiguity of Khodasevich’s estimates.

  • Keywords: Khodasevich, Gorky, memories, portrait, emigration.
