Abstract:
This book is dedicated to the memory of Andrey Kofman (August 17, 1954 – May 16, 2024), an outstanding scholar of Latin American studies, head of the Department of Modern European and American Literatures at the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (since 2008), Deputy Director for Scientific Work (since 2016). The book examines issues that were within the scope of Andrey Kofman’s academic interests, and sometimes directly inspired by him. These are problems related to Latin American culture in all its aspects (literature, history, music, painting), the literary process in Western countries (Spain, France, England, Germany, the USA…), including the representations of national character in fiction and folklore, a variety of comparative issues and, of course, images of space in literature — a topic that A. Kofman specially developed. The book is addressed to philologists, cultural experts and anyone interested in the history of culture.
Keywords: Literary Process, Literature and Culture of Latin America, Comparative Studies, Space in Literature, Tradition, Literary Movements and Trends.
