Translation of M. Gorky’s works into Chinese originates in 1907. Since then, many other works of this writer have been regularly translated and published in China, enjoying great popularity among readers. Gorky and his works had a significant impact on all Chinese literature. Since the mid-1980s, when serious changes affecting the historical and social atmosphere of the time, there was a new look at Russian literature of the 20th century. It has had an impact on people’s perception of Gorky’s creativity. But in the hearts of Chinese readers, writers and researchers Gorky forever remains a great Man and a humanist, a kind and sincere intellectual with a tender and sincere love in his soul for his Homeland and his people. Gorky belongs not only to Russia, but also to China, as well as to all mankind.
