Abstract:

The article is devoted to the problem of preserving the content of a poetic text and its formal features in literary translation. The translations of several works of the national poet of Abkhazia B. Shinkuba, a true reformer of the Abkhaz verse, belonging to different lyrical genres, are analyzed: “Autumn Garden” (B. Brik), “Rivers” (R. Kazakova), “She is not old, but strange ...” (B. Akhmadulina). It is shown how the metric-rhythmic structure, the system of epithets, comparisons, metaphorical images, their colorfulness and plasticity were preserved during translation into Russian. The individual poetic style of translators is noted, their various techniques that convey important components of the work, without which it would lose its artistic value, would not meet the content and poetic requirements of the original. It is emphasized that in the matter of familiarizing the Russian reader with Abkhazian poetry, the creative community and cooperation of the poet and translator, the preservation of the rich and long-standing creative traditions of the Russian translation school were of great importance.

  • Keywords: Bagrat Shinkuba, R. Kazakova, B. Akhmadulina Abkhaz verse, poetic translation.
